The Simon Youth Foundation is a non-profit that awards scholarships to students in locations that are at risk for school dropouts. In 2015 alone, they awarded $1.2 million to 300 students across the country and they are now seeking applicants for next year. To qualify, applicants must be seniors set to graduate next year, who live within 50 miles of Calhoun Premium Outlets, Lenox Square, Mall of Georgia, North Georgia Premium Outlets, Phipps Plaza, Sugarloaf Mills and Town Center at Cobb. With the cost of college always increasing, Simon Youth offers a chance for 25 students up to $1,500 to go to any accredited school; In addition, a regional and local award, “Awards of Excellence” will be granted to one student per region, with an award of $10,000 ($2,500 per school year).
